Created as part of a school project, this logo design for Cub Care was inspired by the randomly assigned challenge of designing for the healthcare industry with a focus on children, using a lion as the central icon. I conceptualized Cub Care' as a children's daycare with a focus on nurturing and health. To appeal to the young audience, I designed a playful and friendly lion icon paired with a vibrant, cheerful color palette. The result is a logo that feels approachable, fun, and comforting, aligning with the brand's mission to provide care and support for children.

The Process

Mad Lib Logo

We were assigned Industry, Audience and Icon based on our birthday. I was tasked with creating a logo for healthcare company geared towards kids that had a lion icon. I knew my biggest challenge would be making the lion kid friendly.

I didn't want to make something like this:

Sketching/Initial Concept

My initial idea was to create a health clinic gear towards kids. I tested out using the whole body of lion, or just the head. I considered using something more simple like just the paw print, but that felt too harsh for a logo geared towards kids. When I decided to shift gears and create a daycare, things started to fall into place. I added a heart in the cub's nose to help him appear friendly and utilized the idea of building blocks in the wordmark. A multi-color brand story emphasizes the playfulness of children.

Eye Psychology

When someone looks up and to their left, they appear hopeful and optimistic. When someone looks down and their right, they appear worried or distraught. I used this psychology to inform the pupil placement on my cub.
