CUB CARE
Branding
This logo design for Cub Care was created as part of a school project in response to a randomly assigned brief focused on the healthcare industry, with an emphasis on children and a lion as the central icon. I developed Cub Care as a children’s daycare concept rooted in health and emotional well-being, aiming to create a brand that feels both trustworthy to parents and welcoming to children.
The logo centers around a playful lion and a wordmark built from simple block-like forms inspired by the building blocks commonly found in daycare environments. This approach allows the mark to feel familiar and engaging to young audiences while also symbolizing growth, learning, and structure. A bright, cheerful color palette further reinforces the brand’s friendly and optimistic personality.

THE PROCESS
Mad Lib Logo

Through the process of being randomly assigned an Industry, Audience and Icon, I was tasked with creating a logo for healthcare company geared towards kids that had a lion icon. I knew my biggest challenge would be making the lion kid friendly.

Sketching

My initial idea was to create a health clinic gear towards kids. I tested out using the whole body of lion, or just the head. I considered using something more simple like just the paw print, but that felt too harsh for a logo geared towards kids. When I decided to shift gears and create a daycare, things started to fall into place. I added a heart in the cub's nose to help him appear friendly and utilized the idea of building blocks in the wordmark. A multi-color brand story emphasizes the playfulness of children.
A Note About Eye Pyschology

When someone looks up and to their left, they appear hopeful and optimistic. When someone looks down and their right, they appear worried or distraught. I used this psychology to inform the pupil placement on my cub.
