PUNK NOIR
Font Design
Poster Design
This project explores expressive display typography through the design of a custom typeface for Stegi Radio in Athens. Inspired by the radio show The Light Is Mine and Yello’s song She’s Got a Gun, I developed Punk Noir, a display typeface that blends the moody tension of film noir with a sharp, punk edge. The letterforms use bold contrast, angular details, and exaggerated forms to translate the song’s rhythm, attitude, and unease into a legible yet expressive typographic system.
The final outcome is a series of two posters that function as both a type specimen and a promotional piece for the radio show. One poster showcases the full alphabet, numerals, and core glyphs, while the second promotes The Light Is Mine using the same visual language. Together, the posters demonstrate how Punk Noir communicates sound through typography, balancing function and expression to create a cohesive, music-driven identity.
